Spiders

Spiders are common desert dwellers and are prevalent throughout the Las Vegas Valley. They do not eat plants but other living animals and insects. The most dangerous spiders to humans in North America are the Black widow, the brown recluse and tarantulas. All of which are native to our community. There are more than 35,000 different species of spiders and it is impossible to tell which spider it is or if it is poisonous, from a brief description. Fischer’s Pest Control’s trained technicians can help you identify and effectively eliminate these intruders from your home or business.

Silverfish

Silverfish are common in houses throughout the United States. Silverfish live and develop in damp, cool places. Silverfish are active at night and hide during the day. They may be found in bookcases, around closet shelves, behind baseboards, and behind window and doorframes.

They are able to live without food for several months, however can cause damage in homes by eating foods and other materials that are high in starch, protein, or sugar.

Scorpions

Scorpions are common throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Scorpions have an elongated body and a segmented tail that is tipped with a venomous stinger. All scorpions do possess venom and can sting, but their natural tendencies are to hide and escape. Scorpions are nocturnal, predatory animals that feed on a variety of insects and spiders and can survive without feeding for several months. Scorpions are difficult to control with insecticides alone. A combination of appropriate pest control measures and a physical exclusion of the property is often the best method of elimination to insure effective control.

Fischer’s Pest Control specializes in Scorpion Exclusion Treatments and our trained technicians will be happy to help you assess your scorpion problem and develop a comprehensive treatment plan to best fit your needs.

Rodants

Rodents reproduce rapidly with major activity at night. Rats tend to be cautious and mice are more curious. Rats tend to eat most of their food at one time, where mice will nibble a little at a time. They also cause damage to our buildings by their burrowing and gnawing activity. A successful rodent control program includes a combination of baiting and trapping for the highest rate of success. You may also want to consider integrating your program, with exclusion techniques and a general cleanup and removal of their hiding places.

Fischer’s Pest Control offers a variety of baiting and trapping options available to effectively eliminate your rodent infestation.

Roaches

Cockroaches are household pests throughout the United States and are especially common in Las Vegas during the warmer months. Cockroaches are one of the oldest of insects. They have survived such a long time because they have demonstrated outstanding ability to adapt to a wide range of habitats.

Although most often thought to be associated with dirty living conditions, even the tidiest homes can become infested quite rapidly. In fact, every home or commercial kitchen has the potential of developing a cockroach problem. German cockroaches are a specific species of cockroaches that are particularly difficult to control. Due to the high reproductive potential of this species and resistance to many insecticides, German roaches are one of the most challenging problems to eliminate. As a result, a more aggressive and comprehensive treatment plan is required to fully eradicate the problem.

Earwigs

Earwigs are insects that are readily recognized by the pincher like appendages at the end of the abdomen. In fact, some people refer to them as, “pincher-bugs.” Earwigs are generally nocturnal and can be seen patrolling household walls and ceilings.

Earwigs are also drawn to damp conditions. During the summer, they can be found around sinks and in bathrooms. They are often transported great distances in potted plants, nursery stock, or other plant material. They sometimes build up to large numbers in warm weather and then may invade homes or other structures.

Crickets

Crickets are usually active at night (nocturnal), prefer shelter in cracks and crevices and invade homes seeking moisture. An occasional cricket or two in the home usually presents no serious problem.

They are rarely serious pests in the home. Indoors, some crickets can feed on a wide variety of fabrics, foods and paper products. Cotton, linen, wool, rayon, nylon, silk and furs are susceptible, along with soiled fabrics, sizing from wallpaper, glue from bookbindings, fruit, vegetables, meat and even other crickets.

Bees

Honey Bees, Africanized Killer Bees, Wasps, Hornets, and Yellow jackets are all found in Nevada. Bees and wasps are frequently dangerous because of allergic response to their painful stings. If you think you have a colony of Africanized/European honey bees, don’t try to eliminate them yourself, call a professional.

There are many similarities amongst the two types of bees, but it is impossible to tell the difference with the naked eye. We have trained professionals with proper equipment to identify and eliminate the bees and to remove the entire honeycomb reducing the chance for future infestations.

Please call us for a licensed technician to inspect the property.

Bedbugs

Bed bugs are small wingless insects that feed solely upon the blood of warm-blooded animals. They are most abundant in rooms where people sleep, and they generally hide nearest the bed or other furniture used for sleeping. Bed bugs are most active in the middle of the night, but when hungry, they will venture out during the day to seek a host. Bed bugs are challenging pests to control.

They hide in many tiny places, so inspections and treatments must be very thorough. Managing bed bugs requires a multi-faceted approach that generally includes cleaning, room modifications, and insecticidal treatments to the residence. Treatment for Bed Bugs is not covered under Fischer’s monthly service guarantee. The rapid spread of bed bugs continues to be a growing problem throughout the Vas Vegas Valley. In order to fully eliminate an infestation, additional treatment methods, in addition to regular monthly service, are required.

If you think you may have a problem with bed bugs, please give our office a call immediately for a free estimate on these services.

Ants

There are many types of ants that may be found in houses. Some are actual household pests, while others occasionally wander in to look for food or water. Foraging adult ants are only a fraction of the total colony. Broadcast spraying around the perimeter of the house targets only the foraging adult ants in the colony.

Control will be temporary since the colony will simply send out more foraging ants when others are killed. Baiting is the preferred treatment over typical residual spraying, so you can eliminate the entire colony.
